GRT Capital Management is a premier wealth and asset management firm dedicated to serving professional investors, including ultra-high-net-worth families and institutional clients. Building on our own family office investment experience, we maintain in-house investment capabilities in real asset private equity and private credit. As a licensed corporation (Type 4 – Advising on Securities; Type 9 – Asset Management) regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), we are authorized to provide investment advisory and asset management services to professional investors, including ultra-high-net-worth families and institutional clients.

Appointed as investment advisor to a Cayman-domiciled fixed return fund backed by real estate assets.

2023

Fund Manager of a Hong Kong Open-ended Fund Company (OFC) Eligible for the New CIES
Established and managed an open-ended fund that is eligible for the New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (New CIES).

2024

International Expansion
Enhanced operational and investment risk management frameworks to prepare for upcoming representative offices in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Singapore with proper licenses to better serve international clients.

2025

Establishment of Cayman Unit Trust

Lawrence Lai

Senior Investment Consultant

Biography

Dr. Lawrence Lai has over 20 years of investment experience, including roles as General Manager of the Private Equity Investment arm of a blue-chip listed company in Hong Kong and CEO of a China-based investment firm. He has held various positions in investee companies, such as board member, management committee member, and COO. 

Lawrence earned his Doctor of Business Administration from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a Responsible Officer of the company and a Certified ESG Analyst.

Samuel Lam

Director

Biography

Samuel Lam brings a decade of experience in asset management, discretionary account management, securities advisory, and market commentary. He is currently a qualified Responsible Officer for Type 4 (advising on securities) and Type 9 (asset management) regulated activities in the company. 

Before joining the company, Samuel served as a director in the financial arm of a conglomerate in Hong Kong. He managed a discretionary account exceeding HK$250 million and contributed as an Investment Specialist for another account of HK$100 million. 

Samuel holds a BBA in Finance from Simon Fraser University, Canada, and various professional qualifications, including CFP (Hong Kong) and CFP (Canada).

Jamie Lam

Executive Vice President

Biography

As Executive Vice President of Global Capital Markets at GRT Capital Management, Jamie Lam leads the firm’s global regional strategy and operations, headquartered in Hong Kong. He brings over 15 years of experience in real estate private equity, having held senior positions at prominent fund managers and family offices, including Henderson Land Development Company Limited and various fund management firms.

Jamie has overseen investment portfolios with assets under management (AUM) exceeding US$100 million, with a particular focus on large-scale residential projects, land-based investments, and hotel development. His expertise spans acquisition, development, capital structuring, and asset management.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and is licensed by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to carry out Type 4 (advising on securities) and Type 9 (asset management) regulated activities.

Partick Lui

Managing Director

Biography

Patrick Lui is the Managing Director at GRT Capital Management, responsible for overseeing investment management in private credits and private equities strategies for family offices. Before joining GRT, Patrick was an Executive Director at China Merchant Capital, where he specialized in private equity and investment management across a broad range of sectors including infrastructure, technology, media, telecommunications (TMT), and real assets spanning across residential, office, industrial, hotel, retail, logistics, and data centers, and closed the headline transaction of HKT fiber network infrastructure for USD 870 million. Previously, Patrick served as Deputy Head of Investment at Poly Property and Poly Development Holdings, where he focused primarily on residential projects and managed overseas investment initiatives exceeding USD 6 billion across the US, UK, Australia, and Hong Kong. He also worked with Button Capital, a multi-family office, underwriting investments in multifamily, hotel, and retail assets totaling over USD 500 million across the US and China. He began his career in the financial sector with Citigroup’s Institutional Client Group and also J.P. Morgan Asset Management in Hong Kong.

Patrick holds a Master’s degree in Real Estate Economics and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Global Management from the University of Hong Kong. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), and an EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst® (CESGA).
